For those curious, here’s a rough overview of what we’re building:

True Operators is a community with two primary target demographics:

  1. Operators at Software Companies
  2. Service Providers and Independent Makers, Marketers, etc.

Let me elaborate.

The overall aim is a stronger focus on people in more practical roles as opposed to theoretical ones.
Operators more involved in doing > strategizing.
These are intentionally quite broad (yet also specific, in their own right).
An easy way to put it: People working at software companies and the people who often end up using those products with a stronger focus on service providers.
Simplified further: Operators (founders included) at software companies network/connect with users/prospects. And for those operators to also network/connect with other operators.
Sidenote: For now, this is an idea that we have hit pause on until things take off, which is the company angle to this. For example, for our own product, Workover, we are running the community as a “sub-community” within True Operators. The idea of offering the same to other companies. Some companies have shown some interest in this already, but we want to wait to move forward with this until we get the wider community into a more engaged state first.
I realize this is a rough manifesto for what we’re building, but I wanted to share all of the information – in the hopes that this will will get you excited about what you could be a part of. 🙌
